 'Speckled Wood' (Parage aereria)
I believe this is a 'Speckled Wood' (Parage aereria) - but according to 'Collins Complete British Wildlife' this butterfly is supposed to have a wingspan of 45cm?? Does anybody else recognise it?

Suggest either 4.5 cm or 45 mm? At 45 cm it would be a danger to low flying aircraft and a hazzard to shipping!

It is a Speckled Wood, and a damn nice one as well

My thoughts entirely Arfon, 45mm is nearer the mark
